looking for cheap flight to france in july
#13
The OP is apparently looking for fares from Tampa. It seems like the tack to take would be to look for the cheapest fare to anywhere in Europe, then connect to France (where?) on one of the budget carriers. London for example, costs around $750 RT from TPA; then connecting on Ryanair or Easyjet to the final destination (yes, probably involving the hassle of changing airports) can be very cheap indeed, keeping the total low. Careful shopping might make it even cheaper, by flying out of Miami for example, even if it means driving across Florida, in order to access cheaper transatlantic fares. The budget airlines have really shuffled the deck on total cost calculations into non-gateway cities in Europe.

I thought AF was having some summer "sales" as they sent me an email recently on that as I'm on their list. They only listed selected cities, though, and I noted my city wasn't on them (IAD).
In any case, I snapped up my AF nonstop DC-Paris fare a few weeks ago as I had been monitoring it and it was around $1200 for late July on AF and United (and was actually higher on some other airlines that weren't nonstop).
I grabbed it when I got it at $890 which happened about 10 days ago. I did have to be a little creative, I got it to drop $300 by moving my return date one day -- from a Thursday backward to the Wednesday. You might try fooling with the dates a little. I would think it a bargain to get that fare at $900 from LAX to Paris myself since that is the going rates from East Coast this summer.
I thought United would be trying to get business due to their financial problems, but they were higher than AF, and American was ridiculous.

I just threw it to Expedia and it came back United @ $757 via ORD (less Expedia's $5 charge that you won't have to pay by going straight to united.com.) Probably depends on your travel dates. Same range on American AL, which I would prefer due to more legroom.

Here's a start:
Go to Travelocity and use the Flexible search to locate fares from Tampa to LON during July. These start at $639+tax on United. Go to the United site and try to match or beat that fare.
Another airline to consider for the London-Paris leg (particularly if you land in Heathrow) is BMI - http://www.flybmi.com . Often their fares are reasonable.

I'd consider trying Priceline given your dates are 100% fixed. The worst that could happen is an inconvenient connection (other than the tickets being completely nonrefundable and nonchangeable).
