Looking for budget B&B in Bath
My husband and are would like to stay 1 or 2 nights in Bath, in August. We do have a car, so we could stay out of town. Something warm and homey and preferrable less than 60GBP.
Any ideas?

Hi. Perhaps by now you've received some suggestions at another thread, but if not, please take a look at the nearby town of Bradford-on-Avon. It is so lovely and interesting; I don't know why more people don't stay there. It's very close to Bath. I see some b&b's in your price range. My friends and I stayed at Fern Cottage in the tiny village of Monkton Farleigh. It's listed at the Bradford site, but for some reason I can't access their website. You might try e-mail. We stayed with the Valentines for seven nights in their carriage house. Monkton Farleigh is a miniature charmer with a good pub. Perfect for visiting Bath, if you are indeed considering out of town. J.

jmw44 has given you some useful suggestions. As you have already found, Bath (And Bradford on Avon for that matter) tend to be pretty pricey. There are good reasons for that but that still doesn't help. In Bath itself, there are some inexpensive B&Bs but they are harder to find and sometimes will be pretty tacky or in an inconvenient location.
But if you look at outlying villages to the south or east of the city you'll find more low cost places to choose from.
These two are in Corsham - I've stayed at Pickwick Lodge Farm which is very nice and I would stay there again. I saw the other one and it looks good too.

We stayed in a wonderful little B&B in Wellow, which is just outside Bath. I don't recall the name, but it was literally right across the road from the Fox & Badger pub on the main street in town. The room we were given was in the attic, but as such was very spacious, and had a bathroom en suite (the tub was on a sort of dais near a frosted bay window, as I recall).
The hosts, a retired couple, were delightful and we had a wonderful morning conversation with them over breakfast about the economies, education, and history of the UK vs. the USA.
I highly recommend this place, though I can't for the life of me remember the name of the place! I don't think there were many other B&Bs in Wellow, so it should be easy to find.
