Hi everydayerrands,
I too was looking for the same flight SFO-FCO for 2 adults, 2 children in June.
I started searching airfares a little in December but regularily (sp?)since Xmas. Nothing less than $1500 (all in).
I ended up finding a fare into Dublin for $788 (adult) and $706 (child) all in. Since then, there are a few postings for great fares into Paris for under $800. I wish I would've bought those instead to use as my gateway city. It's closer to Italy and has more cheap travel options to get there. Dublin has only a couple of airlines. Plus, we love Paris! But what's done is done and we are going to Dublin!
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should be flexible when searching for cheap flights; especially if you want non-stop ones. I don't think you'll find a non-stop all the way from SFO though!
Good Luck in your search!

instead of cross posting on two boards and asking others to do your work for you, spend time digging into deals. look at connections, look at other airports to fly into.
we aren't your travel agents willing to spend hours finding a great airfare for you.
yep, I'm being snarky. do your own legwork. (and yes, I'm cross posting this on both threads)
