Looking for a place between rome and florence

I will be in italy for 8 days. Can anyone reccommend a city worth stopping in between the two cities. Or with my limited time should i just continue on to rome?

Thanks,

DANIEL

Siena is definitely a place worth stopping on your way from Florence to Rome.

Drive through all the Tuscan countryside in between the two!
San Gimignano, Siena, Montalcino, Montepuliciano! ALl gorgeous! www.tuscany.net has great little places to stay throughout. THe smaller hilltowns are wonderful and a good change of pace from the big cities.

If you're travelling on the train, Orvieto is PERFECT!
