Looking for a 50th birthday restaurant in Paris

Bonjour....I'm counting the days till DH & I leave for my favorite city in the world. I'll be celebrating my big five-ohhh there on a Sunday. Does anyone have a restaurant recommendation for such an occasion that isn't too fancy or astronomically expensive mainly because we won't be packing suits and evening dresses? I mentioned that it's on a Sunday because it does seem that some places are closed. We're staying in the 7th.

Well, I did my 60th this summer at LeTrainBleu. The interior is fantastic, the food was very good (maybe not the best in Paris), and the service was nice. The setting made the evening special and memorable without spending a real bundle. And fancy dress is certainly not necessary.

The biggest problem was that it was about 90 degrees inside and I sweated bullets all night, but that shouldn't be a problem if they're not in the middle of a heat wave.

One of our group had a birthday the first night we arrived in Paris in earely July this year. I had made a reservation through a concierge service for Cafe l'Homme at Trocadero. It was a warm night, we had the reservation for their fabulous terrace, and the food was divine! The Eiffel Tower in all her glory was what our eyes feasted on all evening -- watching Her sparkle was a real joy! Can't beat that for a birthday! I don't have the website at hand, but you could certainly "google" the restaurant.

Enjoy!!!

How about Cafe de la Paix in the Intercontinental Hotel. You can dress up or down here and fit in. Very friendly, BEAUTIFUL room and really very good food. It's right accros the street from Opera Garnier

La table de Joel Robuchon,
16 avenue Bugeaut, in the 16th.
0156281616, open 7/7, lunch and dinner.
Great food, not so pricy and there are a lot of dishes in small or large portions so you can try a lot...
Erik.

A high-living jet setter I know always recommends Violon d'Ingres.

Bonjour GardenKim
I'll second Margaritelb on The Cafe de la Paix. We celebrated my wife's 50th birthday there and she still tells people about it. This year, Sept.20, will be her 60th and we will be on Capri. Hope it's as good as Paris!
Wherever you celebrate hope you have a wonderful birthday.

Happy birthday Gardenkim - my 50th falls next thursay and we;re gonig to be in the Pyrenees, at a place with only one hotel/restaurant. So if we don't like it the first night -Wed - we're stuck! REviews are prettty good though, and we're hoping to spend the day walking in the mountains, so \i may be too tired to care.
Have you been to Paris before? - hope you have a lovely time.

La Florimond is where we celebrated a significant birthday for DH. I am unclear if it is open on Sunday.
Fontaine de Mars is definitely open and would be wonderful--a very typical French bistro. Reservations needed because it is so popular (with Parisians).
Bofinger would be lovely--ask for the non-smoking room because it is the most beautiful.
