London's Heathrow Lodge-a good place to stay?

hi,
We need to overnight near Heathrow. Any favorite, safe, cheap places to suggest?
Thank you!

The best deal we got was the Heathrow Marriott thru Priceline. We got a night in June 2004 for $67 (US) - bid on a 4-star at Heathrow.

You'll probably get the most for your money thru Priceline. Make sure you do a lot of research first on www.biddingfortravel.com.

We got the Holiday Inn Ariel--3 stars, for $42 on Priceline. Take any city bus for free (save the Hoppa Bus fee!). There is a bus stop directly across from the entrance. The buses run every 5-10 minutes and take 10 minutes at most. Buses are wheelchair accessible on this route.

Thank you both for your help. We have 2 adults and 1 kid so we need 2 beds. The biddingfortravel site says you can't guarantee 2 beds with Priceline and probably the others. Any reccomendations on what I should do?
Thanks!

You can always ask about fee for a rollaway bed , or reserve 2 rooms. As $42x 2 you're still less than 50 pounds total.

Unfortunately Priceline isn't useful if you need more than 1 double bed or if you need two rooms. Bidding for two rooms, especially for a family, is a BIG gamble - what if you end up w/ rooms in two different hotels??

I don't know the Heathrow Lodge. But I can recommend the Heathrow Travel Inn. On Sat/Sun it is less than £50 per room and kids stay free. (it runs about £20 more on weekdays). It is close to the airport and you can take the Hotel Hoppa or local buses. There is a restaurant plus a bar/snack bar inside the hotel and there are two double beds in almost every room. A bit more that Priceline but no uncertainty.

Janis - on Priceline if you bid for two rooms at once you will not get two rooms in different hotels, they will certainly be in the same hotel.

I know that Priceline only guarantee a room for two people but I have never had a problem asking for a room accommodating 3 people with two beds plus a rollaway on Priceline wins. Clearly, that is a risk but at the Heathrow Airport hotels, I wouldn't have thought it was a huge gamble.

Have a look at www.abcholidayextras.co.uk and you will see a huge selection of hotels near to the airport. Just be careful that the location is as near as you want to be to the airport as some of the hotels are in nearby towns.

OK - maybe not a huge gamble -- but definitely a gamble. The main problem is you won't have any idea

1) if you got both rooms in the same hotel (and besides who wants two rooms when a couple is traveling w/ 1 child? )

or

2) if a third person is allowed in the room -- until AFTER you have paid for the room(s).

Don't get me wronng - PL is terrific for getting bargain accomodations. But it is NOT a good idea w/ one has very specific bed (which these folks do) or location requirements.

Specific location requirements are covered in the zones bid. Go to biddingfortravel.com and read about London airports locations for further info. I've never had a problem with a rollaway. The Holiday Inn Ariel gave us a handicapped accessible room which was huge with a king bed. It was the best $42 I spent in London.
Hope you find a good solution, dawnie.
