older teens could even like staying in a youth hotel in London a day or two - like so many European peers do.

When I post here for advice, I expect to get help in planning my vacation. "Being told by the old pros" sounds like like put-down to several of us who responded. But isn't that what an online travel forum is? People giving advice based on their own travel experiences?

Of course each family is different. I like hearing perspectives I might not have thought of. I generally trust that the OP is intelligent enough to sort through a range of opinions and determine what works for his/her own family.
