LONDON TRIP, OCEAN VIEW
Hi We'll be spending 5 days in London, may or may not take a day trip to York or somewhere (hope to stay longer next year). But, I love just being by the water and would love to hear where there would be the most unforgettable coast spot we could get to by bus or train, as a day trip.
Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry, but Brighton does not fit the description >>most unforgettable coast spot<<.
However, slightly to the east of Brighton is Seaford (with access by train), from which one can reach and hike the famous white cliffs known as the 'Seven Sisters'.
That IMHO, would match the criterion of "most unforgettable coast spot"!

The most unforgettable coastal spot - possibly in the world - is Dover. Get the train to Dover, then take a White Cliffs boat tour (www.whitecliffsboattours.co.uk) to see the cliffs.
As a piece of scenery, the White Cliffs are fine, but really wouldn't get much beyond most people's Top 50 great sights.
But here's the thing. Nowhere else on earth has pure evil, of its own free will and in living memory, provoked a fight with common decency - and then been sent home, mortally woundsed and doomed to evential destruction, with its tail between its legs.
Pretty scenery you can see almost anywhere. Proof that right eventually prevails is a lot rarer.
