Melissa: I know you are enthusiastic about your family's trip to London and Paris, and you want lots of good info to work w/
But (I'll probably be flamed for this - but anyway) you have started 40 or 45 threads about your itinerary/directions/activities, etc. Most are like this one - asking a brief question and then you are on to a new thread. (A lot of your questions have been answered many times before on other threads. ) Perhaps a short search will find some of the answers you want.
I know you'll have a great trip - you are surely well prepared

Taking tea at Harrods' ornate Tea Room is a London tradition - we're talking about high tea - fancy nibbling cakes, etc. with properly prepared tea, but for a Harrods like price. See the memorial to Princess Di and her beau killed with her in the store, placed their by Harrods owner who was the father of the beau.
I'm sure like janisi and ira point out there are zillions of recommendations of this hot topic.

PalQ means afternoon tea. No one uses the term "high tea" anymore except tourists, and then it is used incorrectly. High tea was a substantial evening meal (nowadays just called "tea" in working class families, served around 6PM.
The memorial to Diana and Dodi Fayed at Harrods is generally considered to be in very bad taste. All the royal warrants once granted to Harrods have now been withdrawn.
