London show-dining.

We're going to see Bombay Dreams in the Appollo Victoria but from what I've found in my search there is nowhere close by to eat before the show. The show starts at 7.45 and I see that many restaurants in the theatre district open at 5.30.Would it be out of the question to eat there with its much greater choice and still be able to get to the show in time?
Thanks to those who know London better than I do.

I'm just wondering here...*S*
If you would rather not be rushed through dinner and then have to dash off to hail a taxi (or to take the tube to Victoria Station) in time to make the curtain, what if you have a late lunch that day and then take the tube over to Covent Garden or Soho for a post theater dinner?

I agree with ttt. I hate having to rush through a meal, worrying about making the curtain, and then sitting through a show stuffed. Do a late night supper after the show!

Regardless of where you go however, you can take the underground to Victoria and the theatre is right there. That will be your best transportation at that hour before the show.

I'd already thought of eating after the show but we are going for my Mum's birthday and my dad normally goes to bed at about 10! This means that once the show is over he will want to head back to our hotel.
I must admit I don't know what time the show finishes but I anticipate about 10.30.Would it be an idea to ring the theatre and see what they recommend?

Why not eat at at 5 45? You'll be finished by 7 15 and then can walk or get the Tube to the theatre. Try Palais du Jardin or Le Deuxieme (on Long Acre) in Covent Garden. You can then get the Piccadilly line at Covent Garden to Green Park, changing to the Victoria line for Victoria. You can eat there from 5 30 or so, I think, for the pre-theatre menus.
I don't know of any decent restaurants near to the theatre you're going to.
