I can't imagine booking this hotel as a stop over for one night - it is not exactly convenient to anything except the Tower & Tower Bridge. There are a couple of restuarants in the adjacent St. Katherine's Dock/Marina including Dickens Inn. There are several places across the Tower Bridge along Shad Thames/Butler Wharf area. If you are coming in from Heathrow for your overnight this hotel is on the "far side" of London from the airport which is why I said it is inconvenient. There are a lot of other hotels that would not take as much time to get to if your time is limited. We've rented an apartment in the Marina area so I know it pretty well.

I work on the south side of Tower Bridge. It's a good location for a night, a little unusual and not the typical tourist center. There are lots of good restaurants on the south side of the river, and the view is unbelievable at night. If price is not a concern (London is expensive for a Canadian, no matter how much you make), there are a bunch of Conran restaurants in "Butler's Wharf" (cross the river on the left side of the bridge and turn left when you reach the stairs on the other side, stay on the embankment), notably "Pont de la Tour" (Tower Bridge - not very imaginative, but an excellent high end restaurant), Chop House (good steak, lots of "traditional" English food), Canteena (cheapest one, but a good relaxed evening), as well as a few pubs, some pizza places (Ask and Pizza Express - cheap, but not great pizza by Vancouver standards), and a decent Indian (Bengal Clipper). You can also go right, and keep walking past the egg shaped building, past past the HMS Belfast (probably not worth going on it - try to do the Tower of London instead), and at "Hayes Galleria" you'll find a bunch more. There's a not so good chain of French restaurants, a cool little pub (The Horniman (sp?) Pub), a wine bar, and a very good Thai place that's not too expensive. If you're up to going to Shakespear's Globe (sp?), there's supposedly a decent pub/restaurant there called "The Anchor". Phew - I think that will do you!
