Hi everyone -- you all were most helpful with my trip planning to Paris last year.

This time I need a little help with London restaurants. I have narrowed down our list to a few different places. Any opinions would be most appreciated. It will be just my boyfriend and I and cost isn't really a factor and we are only there for a long weekend.

Hakkasan
OXO Tower Wharf
The Ivy
Electric Brasserie
Brasserie St Quentin.

We are open to additional suggestions as well. we need one place for a casual meal and another one for our anniversary meal -- can be fancier or just nicer.

We are staying in Mayfair so we'd prefer something in central London.

I love Brasserie St Quentin! We first discovered it a number of years ago and finally were able to return five years ago for our 25th anniversary. It was better than ever! The escargot a la creme d'ail was to die for (actually better than any escargot I ever had in Paris, and that is saying something!). Dessert of chocolate fondant with burnt orange ice cream was heavenly. Highly recommended for an anniversary celebration. It will be on the list for a return trip!

Also liked Launceston Place (1 Launceston Place).

Amended: I meant to say that we finally returned to London for our anniversary. Our actual anniversary dinner was at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's, not at Brasserie St Quentin, and although that was good, our meal at St Quentin was more memorable - at a fraction of the cost. We actually ate there twice on that trip.

Was in London last month and went to Yuatcha (sp?) which is the sister restaurant to Hakkasan. It was great esp. if you like dumplings. The restaurant's decor is quite funky and service was good. It's in Soho.
If you like contempory Japanese food, go to Zuma - expensive but fantastic. Roka is also very good.

Nobu, Park Lane, if price is no issue. By far the best meal I have ever had in my life.

You didn't say when your trip is, but some of these restaurants, Ivy in particular, require reservations fairly far in advance.

Thanks for the great recommendations so far! The trip is in September so I plan to choose restaurants fairly soon so as to reserve in advance. I actually went to school in London but that was 5 years ago now.
