London Play Recommendations
I will be in London for two nights in early October. Has anyone seen any really good shows? Not interested in the big musicals (already seen most). Thanks!!

I am going w/my mom in mid-September and we decided to see the musical "Rock of Ages," featuring Shayne Ward from X-Factor. We were able to get preview prices and I think the preview prices might go until October sometime. Very excited!!

War Horse. We just saw it in London in early July. It was magnificent. I recommend buying your tickets ahead, since it's a popular show. It's the hottest ticket on Broadway, where it just opened, and Steven Spielberg is making a movie of it.
I would see it again. My children -- 15, 14 and 8 -- were enthralled. It was just wonderful. It's at the New London Theatre on Drury Lane.

What about a play at the Donmar Warehouse? (I love this theater.)

Or I often hear good things about the Bush Theater.

Or anything at the National?

Wish I were there IN London to give reccos...
Have fun!

We saw quite a few on our recent trip, 39 Steps was definately fun, loved loved loved Million Dollar Quartet.
In a Forest Dark & Deep was quite frankly 'Dark' & 'Deep'! Childrens Hour was really good and Flare Path was great. I believe the run on these three plays has ended.
My favourite for this trip was, Pigmalion with Rupert Everet it was wonderful.
I also really wanted to see Richard III with Kevin Spacey but I was there a bit soon. Happy to say he is taking part in the world tour of the show and I have tickets to see him & it in Sydney, yay.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have narrowed it down to Anna Christie (Donmar Warehouse), War Horse, or one of the plays at the National (A New Play by Mike Leigh perhaps). Has anyone seen The Veil or The Kitchen at the National?

Anna Christie has been getting some really fantastic reviews and the Donmar always puts on good productions, so I would definitely give it a go - I am certainly going to try and get tickets myself. Otherwise I will go with the majority and say that War Horse is absolutely brilliant and very moving; I don't know anyone who's been disappointed by it! Afraid I haven't seen either of the shows at the National though.

Having just finished a fantastic week in London... I would say Much Ado About Nothing at the Globe. My wife and I saw Richard III, The Mousetrap, War Horse, and Much Ado About Nothing. All offered something different... Much Ado was the best of the four!

I am also seeing The Veil at the National Theatre - can't wait! I saw Million Dollar Quartet last month which was really good and I'd recommend it: http://www.milliondollarquartettickets.co.uk/
