My family did nine days in London and six in Paris last summer. We preferred the time in London but I think that really depends on your tastes e.g. do you love art museums?

In London I would recommend:
-Buckingham Palace
-St.Paul's or Westminster Abbey (unless you're into churches)
-London Eye
-Madame Tussaud's for your child
-wandering around
-Tower of London
-walking tour
-Big Bus tour
-Stonehenge

In Paris-
Batobus
Eiffel Tower
Louvre
Versailles gardens
Montmartre

I would do less days in London. The city seemed so dirty, shopping VERY expensive. Our son loved Paris. Versaille takes an entire day and is wonderful. You can also do day trips from Paris to Disneyland if you want, etc.

"The city seemed so dirty, shopping VERY expensive."

You're talking rubbish. Shopping is "expensive" if you go to "expensive".

Ignore this idiot please.

I'd actually recommend 6 in London, 6 in Paris, and why Brussels? I'm sitting here thinking that you really don't need to bother with Brussels as compared to London/Paris it pales into insignificance. So think carefully about removing it altogether and instead a week in both London and Paris.

What's your budget (approx) for lodgings (I'll sound American) and then people can start making recommendations?

my daughter wants brussels, i could skip it ....depends on our budget - i'd ideally like to spedn $150 or less a night and am investigating bed and breakfasts, any suggestions are welcome. i am leaning towards a longer stay in paris because there look like some great side trips there. thanks for the feedback

I'd consider Priceline for London. If you have a party of two people, which I think you do, it's generally a great deal. See other posts on this forum and http://www.betterbidding.com and http://www.biddingfortravel.com for tips. You could probably spend less than $100 USD/night.

For Paris, I'd consider that you will probably want air conditioning, and look for hotels accordingly. Few B&Bs will have A/C in Paris.
