London Olympics
A friend's son has finished up an internship in Holland (thanks to Fodorites for helping him find housing!) and plans to spend the next few weeks traveling in England.
Are there any free or low-cost things in the London area that have to do with the Olympics? For example, when the Super Bowl was in Indianapolis, we happened to drive through the downtown area and it was fun to see the large Super Bowl logo.
I suppose too that he might be able to see the marathon or a similar event without tickets.

Just a follow-up. The Olympic rings have now been hung between the towers on Tower Bridge, and adverts are now out for the big screens showing live action from the Olympics - in Hyde Park and in Victoria Park in East London next to the Olympic Park, for the Olympics, and Trafalgar Square for the Paralympics:
