London Must Sees (but light on the museums)

My sister and I are leaving for London on Thursday for five days. We are going to visit Oxford because she was just accepted into their graduate school. But we are staying in London. What are some really fun things to do? Personally, there are only so many museums I can handle before I get overwhelmed with learning! I definitely want to visit the Freud Museum, being a psychologist.

sorta difficult since you don't give us anything to work w/

Only that you want to avoid museums (except that you do want to visit the Freud). OK - what other sorts of things DO you enjoy??

Psychologist!!!

I've often thought the MDs were the intellectual slummers of grad school!

You might want to go to the cricket grounds at Lords, or maybe arrange for a round of golf somewhere.

There's always fishing.

How about London Dungeon?

Drunken nights in pubs are always fun.

And you might find company in Shepherd's Market.

Don't forget the wax museum and the big ferris wheel.

Enjoy!

I love anything that explores current or recent social issues. We also love animals and nature. Not sure if that helps.

Nature and animals:

Natural History Museum: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/

London Zoo: http://www.zsl.org/london-zoo/

Barnes Wetland Centre: http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit/wetlandcentre/

You could put a brief stop at the City Farm in Mudchute into a tour to Greenwich: http://www.mudchute.org

Social issues:

Museum of London: http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/

Museum in Docklands (travel by Docklands Light Railway to or from Greenwich and you could fit this into the trip along with the City Farm above): http://www.museumindocklands.org.uk

Another thought might be the Women's Library at London Metropolitan University: http://digbig.com/4kpnj

Naughty naughty!

Try and catch an England World cup game in a pub. That'll tell you more about the English psyche than any amount of books. (assuming we're still in it)
