London in lockdown - from a different angle

A tour on a penny-farthing (sorry it only seems to be on Facebook):

Loved that, thanks for posting Patrick! That's probably as close as I'll ever get to a penny-farthing.

Had to look up the name, which now makes perfect sense.

Actually I went for a bike ride up to town today, and it was about as quiet. A fine display of flowers at the palace and hardly anyone there to appreciate them.

Love your photo, Patrick!

I enjoyed the the penny-farthing tour - I assume he is filming himself with a drone? I dunno, the whole idea of a drone makes me a little uncomfortable. Especially in a city. Or am I getting too rigid in my thinking these days?

AIUI, aviation rules make it difficult-to-impossible to fly a drone legally in a city street, but some of those shots must have been from a drone.

Found a YouTube link that will embed here:

Many thanks, Patrick! Does help quell the pangs of wanderlust just a bit...

The guy who made that film, says on his fb page that it was made with a very long selfie stick. The editing software removes the stick from the final film.

Occasionally a veteran cycle club used to stop for refreshments in my little Suffolk village. I haven't seen them for many years now, but it was fascinating to look at the collection of penny farthings and boneshakers, with many of the cyclists wearing period costumes.

Interesting! I do see him holding his hand out and I assumed it was a remote directing a drone. But if it’s all done with a (very!) long gets selfie stick, I am impressed!

Aha! He's confirmed the selfie-stick. Amazing that he can control it so smoothly though.

Fodor's doesn't seem to like links to Facebook

He edited out the selfie stick, but you can often see its shadow.
