London Hotel Deals (Web Only)
Just got a steal and want to spread the word. At www.londontown.com, site of the London Tourist Board, there's a winter promotion on now. While I don't ordinarily seek out 4-star accommodations, I couldn't turn down a twin room with private bath at the Radisson Edwardian Grafton for £93/night (plus VAT) *including* breakfast cooked to order. Booking is online only, and I received an immediate email confirmation direct from the hotel. The special rates are available on the site at a range of three-, four-, and five-star hotels, but the three-stars featured have gotten some bad word-of-mouth on this board and the upgrade to the Grafton just wasn't that much more.

Amusing side note: In the five-star range, the top of the line is a "King-suite with parlour and jacuzzi" at the Mayfair Intercontinental for the cut-rate price of
£750/night, a 25% discount from the usual £1001. Yes, that includes breakfast. If anyone who reads this actually books that puppy, I want to hear about it!

hey, does anyone here have any actual experience with the Radisson Grafton?

I am heading to London in a few weeks (a whim trip - a friend of mine just informed me he is going on a business trip & I am tagging along) and his company is putting him up in the Radisson Grafton.

How big are the rooms, etc. (I know, I know, beggars can't be choosers, but I thought I would ask)

thanks!

Beth

If you actually contact the hotels direct, you'll find many of the "special" offers like those of laterooms aren't all that special.

Last time I booked, I used UKhotel (www.ukhotel.com), contacted the hotel direct, and saved over $140 than if I had booked through laterooms!

Jimmy

Oh, listen, I'm a cynical New Yorker. Of course I contacted the hotel to see if I was getting the best price. I was--and Radisson confirmed that I would not be able to get a better deal than at the London Tourist Board site. But you always need to do all your homework on this sort of thing.

I take it no one has snapped up the King Suite at the Mayfair yet? Pity. I was looking forward to hearing all about it!

I also checked with the hotel before booking through Londontown. The rates are the same--actually slightly better. I've booked with the Mayfair, but a standard room, for next September so it doesn't have to be a "last minute" thing. We love the Mayfair and have stayed there before. Great location and a really cozy feeling hotel. Great bookstore nearby on Piccadilly.

Just want to thank everyone on this forum. After weeks of searching and dozens of emails, I took a look at your recommendation on www.londontown.com and received the most unbelievible deal at the Grafton. No more bargain 2-3-star accommodations.

Now the MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: Anyone have similar recommendations for great deals in Paris/Rome/Munich? Please email me.
