London Hotel Deals (Web Only)

Just got a steal and want to spread the word. At www.londontown.com, site of the London Tourist Board, there's a winter promotion on now. While I don't ordinarily seek out 4-star accommodations, I couldn't turn down a twin room with private bath at the Radisson Edwardian Grafton for £93/night (plus VAT) *including* breakfast cooked to order. Booking is online only, and I received an immediate email confirmation direct from the hotel. The special rates are available on the site at a range of three-, four-, and five-star hotels, but the three-stars featured have gotten some bad word-of-mouth on this board and the upgrade to the Grafton just wasn't that much more.

Amusing side note: In the five-star range, the top of the line is a "King-suite with parlour and jacuzzi" at the Mayfair Intercontinental for the cut-rate price of
£750/night, a 25% discount from the usual £1001. Yes, that includes breakfast. If anyone who reads this actually books that puppy, I want to hear about it!

Thank you for the tip. I checked out the site you suggested and also booked a 4 star hotel that was listed for 52% off! This is an excellent site. thank you for mentioning it!

In stead of my BA package I should have waited, and booked my own air and then booked my hotel! It is a great site for last minute bargains,,,,,,,20/20 hindsight! :-( Judy

After days of searching for a reasonably priced hotel, I was thrilled to book a 4 star room(instead of 2 or 3 star), thanks to your suggestion! Good job! Marge

This site seems to be of great interest. However can you let us know, when you come back, about the quality of the booking on site, i.e. did the hotel keep your booking, was price respected, room type as well, etc.
Many thanks in advance.

hey, does anyone here have any actual experience with the Radisson Grafton?

I am heading to London in a few weeks (a whim trip - a friend of mine just informed me he is going on a business trip & I am tagging along) and his company is putting him up in the Radisson Grafton.

How big are the rooms, etc. (I know, I know, beggars can't be choosers, but I thought I would ask)

thanks!

Beth

Joelle--Just saw your response here and wanted to clarify that I won't be in London until next month--but I promise to file an update on my return!

Hi,
Try
www.Laterooms.com
for great prices.

Jimmy Feb 18th, 2001 07:35 AM

If you actually contact the hotels direct, you'll find many of the "special" offers like those of laterooms aren't all that special.

Last time I booked, I used UKhotel (www.ukhotel.com), contacted the hotel direct, and saved over $140 than if I had booked through laterooms!

Jimmy

Oh, listen, I'm a cynical New Yorker. Of course I contacted the hotel to see if I was getting the best price. I was--and Radisson confirmed that I would not be able to get a better deal than at the London Tourist Board site. But you always need to do all your homework on this sort of thing.

I take it no one has snapped up the King Suite at the Mayfair yet? Pity. I was looking forward to hearing all about it!

kam Feb 21st, 2001 01:18 PM

I also checked with the hotel before booking through Londontown. The rates are the same--actually slightly better. I've booked with the Mayfair, but a standard room, for next September so it doesn't have to be a "last minute" thing. We love the Mayfair and have stayed there before. Great location and a really cozy feeling hotel. Great bookstore nearby on Piccadilly.

Just want to thank everyone on this forum. After weeks of searching and dozens of emails, I took a look at your recommendation on www.londontown.com and received the most unbelievible deal at the Grafton. No more bargain 2-3-star accommodations.

Now the MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: Anyone have similar recommendations for great deals in Paris/Rome/Munich? Please email me.
