London - Hampton Court in June
Hello. I was wondering if Hampton Court gets so crowded that I need to be there when it opens? I was planning on visiting there on a Sunday unless someone can tell me that it's better to do London sights then. I have Friday-Sunday for sightseeing. I've posted what I've been told is an ambitious itinerary but I really want to go to Hampton Court. Thanks, Susan

My husband and I were at Hampton Court in June on a Sunday afternoon...mind you this was in 1991, but I don't remember any crowds. We were breaking away from a church choir group tour in London, so we didn't have a lot of control over what time we arrived...we probably go there at about 2:30 in the afternoon and I don't remember it being crowded at all.

Most of the gardens are open to the public free of charge, so get busy on a fine weekend with local people. There is a hefty admission charge for the palace so it is rarely busy, and is unlikely to be much busier at a weekend than midweek - tourists are willing to pay to go in whereas locals are not.
