I get back into London from Paris on Sat. and by the time I check in, etc it will be nearly noon so may skip the mob in Trafalgar Sq.
I have tickets to a few other pre-game festivities that won't be so crazy.
Thanks sofarsogood. I figured Oxfam would be a good option. That shop is in a great location since I'll be in Covent Garden and 7 Dials at least some time during my stay.

"pop the coat in a bag and I can take it back with me after the GTG for my shop!"
Oh - great julia. That's what I'll probably do.

Well, I'm sitting at St Pancras having lunch with an old friend, and waiting to catch the 2:30 Eurostar to Paris. Flew SMF to Dallas on a totally full crap AA flight but the BA flight Dallas to LHR was only about 1/3 full in coach. I had a window/middle/aisle all to myself. But could I sleep . . . Not a chance

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be able to get to London and the GTG after all.
I'm not going to be able to leave work in time to catch the early train getting me into London at 5.30, and taking a later train isn't a realistic option.
Apologies to you all, and janis, sorry I can't help out with your coat. I hope you have had a lovely time in Paris, enjoy being in London again, and that the game plays out how you hope! Have fun anyway, and I really hope to see you again some time soon.
Looking forward to the trip report!

I had planned - accompanied by Flannerpooch 2.0, who's rapidly acquiring a taste for pubs (and, on yesterday's evidence, for grabbing the food off my plate) - to join you all. I've now had to abandon the attempt, on account of First Great Western really do have an excuse this time, and what's the point of going to a pissup if you've got to drive home?
Have fun - and a safe and undelayed journey back.

Small but lively group. Had a great time. Jamie, bikerScott, Patrick and me. I had the easiest trip - about a 3 block walk
May be back in the spring and we can try again sans St Jude and his storm . . .
