Another vote for the Victoria and Albert Museum and of course Westminister Abbey. We were there this past July and really enjoyed our stay in London. If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant Made in Italy on Kings Road is wonderful.
If you have time... try to get to Stonehenge, we managed to get there by tube and train, an easy trip to do on your own. It is amazing! Hope you have a great trip!Ptm

We've been to the Tower twice - in May and in October. There were no big crowds/lines at the Crown Jewels (or pretty much anywhere else we went) in October, so I'm guessing that the situation would be the same in March. Perhaps another poster can give you that info from experience.

One more thing: Be sure to check out as many Trip Reports on this site as you can. You'll get a lot of great ideas, and some of the threads veer off into very detailed areas.
My trip report from our October 2008 visit with friends (http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...--london-1.cfm) was followed by an excellent discussion of the buses, for instance.

almcd...
I don't remember the restaurant at the V&A being very expensive. It was not cheap by any means, but I think you could get lunch for about 7 GBP (This was two years ago, and, if memory serves, the dollar was stronger, so it's probably more now.)
...and the room we ate in was beautiful.

I didn't find it too expensive either but of course it depends on your budget. You can get a sandwich or just soup or something else small. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's the same price (or close to it) as you would pay in a nearby cafe. But anyone can afford just a cold drink or coffee or just to go in and see the rooms.

I would like to suggest the Fat Tire Bike Tour. My wife and I found this to be a good overview of some the London sites presented in a fun, enjoyable way.
