London eye--need priority ticket

There are different prices for London eye tickets. We will be there in October. Do I need to spend the extra money for priority tickets or is the standard ticket ok?

We went on the London Eye last September and went when it opened. No line and we bought a standard ticket.

we won't be there when it opens as we are going to the Tower of London that day. So, we'll probably be there around 2:00 or so.

You are going in Oct -- there won't be much in the way of lines. But if you are worried at all --just phone or book on line the morning before heading out to the Tower and collect your tickets when you get to the Eye. No need to pay extra.

Because you don't know what the weather will be like on any specific day, wait until you are in London - you can always book online the evening before when you've seen the weather forecast. But as everyone else has said, the lines won't be too long in October. Last year I took a friend on a Sunday in early October, around 12.30, and we waited maybe 10 minutes, if that, to get on once we'd got our tickets.

I'll be in London with friends the last few days in October. How are the lines around 5pm-6pm compared to mid-day? The last time I did the Eye it was also at sunset, which was lovely.

The lines are relatively steady throughout the day. In my opinion the best thing to do is wait until you arrive in London. On the day (or before) you want to go book the tickets at www.londoneye.com then once you arrive put your credit card into the special machine and it prints your tickets. There's no need to line up anyway with this method.

By October it will also be a lot quieter as the busy tourist season is over.
