London Doc Martens

I will be in London and would like to know where I could buy some Doc Martens. I hear that they are alot cheaper in London, is this true or is it just myth? We will be in the South Kenningston area.

there is a Doc Martens store in the northwest corner of the main piazza of Covent Garden, just north of St. Pauls Church(not to be confused with St. Pauls Cathedral).Covent Garden is a stop on the Piccadilly Line.

We found the Doc Shop was pretty expensive. The cheapest Docs were in Oxford Mall.

Avoid the Doc store (super expensive) Also not a lot of shoes there believe it or not. The best place to buy docs is at Camden Market if you are going to be in London on the weekend. Easy to get there by tehtube. Also lots of great clothes and hordes of teenagers. Docs everywhere !!!
Enjoy!!
P. S. If you can't make Camden, try the Shelly's shoe stores.

Also, don't forget to ask for the V.A.T. refund form. Most stores won't offer it to you so you need to ask. You can get 17%25 tax back off purchases over a certain amount usually 50L or so.

I disagree with your estimation that the Doc Marten Store is too expensive. Camden Lock shops are no better unless one is looking for used or discontinued merchandise. Also, if she wishes to save as much as you suggest, the VAT refund would not be available anyway. This is supposed to be a fun forum for travelers to pass along nice experiences, not chop others off at the knees.

Just got back from London and visited the Doc store in Covent Garden. Overall I saved $20 (that includes the tax refund). Shelly's in Oxford Circus had lots of them too and I think a bit better price. I understand that some of the stores outside of London have better prices.

Is any store close to Gatwick Airport? I will have a 3 hour layover on a trip to Madrid. Will be traveling with 4 teenagers that would love to find some Doc Martens at a good price.
How long does it take to go to London--the city--from
Gatwick? Does anybody know?
