London Dayz - Talking Lions at Trafalgar Sq
Keith Olbermann's Oddball part of his nightly news show showed one of the lions capping various pedestals around London's Trafalgar Square talking...
yeh chatting to anyone within hearing distance about how it was good to go and spend money in shops nearby (not sure what lion was actually saying but Keith said it was to encourage spending in these hard times - maybe adverts for stores?
so if in Trafalgar recently and you hear a lion statue talking, it's all right
Anyone seen this charade and can provide more accurate data on it?
Is it on the pedestal where a statue had been replaced by the statue of a naked pregnant disabled lady?

No, it's the lions around Nelson's Column:

Alison Lapper was replaced by a multi-coloured plastic "model for a hotel", and for the next commission, you might be able to stand on the fourth plinth, Pal:

Patrick - can you please stand in for me? Really thanks for those sites. Explains about the Fourth Plinth where there is always it seems something rather bizarre.
<What is the Fourth Plinth?
The Fourth Plinth is in the north-west of Trafalgar Square, in central London. Built in 1841, it was originally intended for an equestrian statue but was empty for many years. It is now the location for specially commissioned art works.>
And yes your chance to stand with 2,400 others on the 4th plinth (how can they get that many on a small plinth?)

>>the lion was "chatting" to passersby on Friday<<
I'll have to investigate. I wonder if they've trained them to say "Gerroff" when people climb on them?
You should have been there on Saturday. There was a whole procession of people dressed as Santa whooping up Charing Cross Road and into Leicester Square. Heaven knows what that was all about.
