I just checked the site, and 5 nights or more in a king , with breakfast included is £110/night!

It really looks nice Jody.I just put it in my fabourites. Maybe another time I go to London I might stay there. As I have only 2 days this time I prefer to stay in the Knightsbridge area. Thanks!
It's much nicer than the Bonnington Steph and has also a very good location.

do you think that The Sumner Hotel is better the Twenty Nevern Square? They say that they will give us the rate of £92.00 per night in a luxary double with our own balcony. Do you think - if we stay at the Twenty Nevern- that the hotel is in a good spot to explore the city? Or would the Sumner Be better for location?

Nevern square is close to Earl's Court, good for transportation, but it is not an area that I fnd at all appealing. Just my personal preference, I like South Ken, Mayfair, Chelsea,Knightsbridge. I'm sure there are lots of other people that like the area. I find it borderline , myself.

I agree w/ jody. Nevern Square is practically right in front of the Earls Court Exhibition Center. I personally wouldn't want to stay in that area even in a deluxe room.

...#5 Sumner Place still has an active web page. Are you sure that it is no longer in business?

Steph, I had a letter from them (#5) just last week saying they were closed and the place sold. As a previous customer, they were offering me a further discount on a future stay at the new Sumner.

I noticed the same thing, maybe they just haven't updated their webpage.

jody...just one question. We were actually planning on going to Bavaria and because flights had spiked we settled on london. I was looking forward to going somewhere remote and scenic and feel like going to london will be just like visiting a big city such as LA o NY. Is this true or is there somewhere we can escape to for a relaxing - no hustle - good time?????

For your price range, I think you could get a decent one, in a good location.

As far as hotels, I agree with the others - Earl's Court is not an "attractive" area, and that Underground station isn't really as convenient as it looks (at least it hasn't been for me).

I like Russell Square/Bloomsbury, for things to do close by and for the atmosphere. I've never stayed in Mayfair or Kensington.

I usually agree with what a previous poster said about Priceline (wanting to know precisely where I'll stay before I plunk down my cash), but in London, Priceline seems to be a wonderful way to choose a hotel. You pick a general location and a price you're willing to pay and they choose a hotel in that area for you. Many posters here have gotten wonderful deals (under $100 per night for two people) at pretty nice hotels (4*). So, I think it would be worth a try. (Do some homework first, on biddingfortravel.com or similar.)

Those are my random, late-night thoughts.
