Berners you mean, a classic hotel which used to have a carvery many years ago. Its position is in a terrribly touristy area that I wouldn't recommend.

Your best bet postion-wise is the Thistle Marble Arch at the top of Park Lane so is placed directly for Hyde Park/Oxford St/Mayfair/Knightsbridge areas.

When I say the Berners is touristy - it's touristy in a cheap electronic shops, bright lights sense.

I stayed at the Stand Palace about 6 years ago. Loved the location, the hotel itself is nice but you could be anywhere in it. I think it has like 800 rooms. But it was clean, a big bathroom, decent size room. Location is it's biggest plus IMO.

I stayed at Thistle Victoria last December. I liked it very much and the location was great. My room was on a high floor facing away from the station. I have heard it can be a bit noisy on the station side, so ask for a room facing the other way.
