Logging In

All of a sudden just my name isn't enough and I have to type out this laborious number/password that Fodors sent me. Has anyone else needed to do this only recently?

Yep - had to do that today. It seems to periodically "forget" who I am and makes me log in.

I've never had that problem. If you delete your cookies periodically, you will have to log in all over again. They seem to remember the Budman.

You mean they aren't trying to lock us out on purpose?

Personally, I enjoy deleting my cookies while simultaneously deleting a tall glass of milk.

Hi daph,

It isn't fodors, its your computer. Fodor's computer remembers who you are because it has passed your computer a cookie.

If you delete your cookies, you have to reregister to get another one.

I didn't take the chance to answer your question earlier, but will now.

Ira covered it for the most part, in the explanation of cookies, except that you don't need to reregister with Fodors. That wouldn't help with the problem on your PC. I'm reading reregister as requesting a new registration (other than "daph&quot. The absence of the cookie stored on your computer would lead the Fodors site to ask you to login again though.

Different brands of browsers (Microsoft IE, Netscape, Opera) handle cookies differently and changing the settings on browser security can sometimes have unexpected results. In IE, the cookie acceptance is under the IE menu item TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS and the SECURITY tab. Highlight the INTERNET ZONE and click on CUSTOM SETTINGS button. Then scroll down to Cookies. Click on enable under "Allow Cookies stored on your computer".

Before going through all of this though, the next time you login to Fodors, make sure the little "Remember my screenname and password" box is checked. Also I agree with changing your Fodors password. After you log in, click on "Profile" next to your name.
