Budget? Number of rooms? All adults or some kids?

With 7 people, you'd better start looking. Two web sites, www.venere.om (which locates the hotels on a city map) and www.tripadvisor.com are very helpful.

You'll need at least three hotel rooms for a group of seven people, and hotel rooms in your destination cities are awfully expensive. If you're staying in Rome for three or more nights and if you don't mind staying in separate buildings, consider apartments. The agency we use is http://www.ilglicine.net/
You can house your group in two apartments if people are willing to sleep on sofa beds, and the savings are substantial. However, and this is a big minus for some people, the owners will want the rent up front in the form of cash or travelers' checks. Good luck!

Hi P,

www.venere.com is very good for Italy.

At 190E/nite dbl, you shouldn't have much trouble.

We are a family of 6 and have rented an apartment in Florence called "Florence Ciompi Apts" through InItaly.com. It is the Michelangelo and sleeps 8. In the Santa Croce area. I have read many review that people were very happy with the apt and the price is good.

Good luck!

We (2 adults and 2 teenagers) liked the Hotel Bramante in Rome very much. You won't get any sort of view, but you'll get a fabulous breakfast. It will be the best breakfast of your entire trip, I can guarantee you. The desk crew is extremely helpful. And you'll be very close to St. Peter's and the Vatican Museums.
