Barbara,
I still don't quite get your itinerary: from where in Germany are you leaving? Do you have a week total for the drive & the Dolomites or are you taking a week to drive there? Why Chamonix and Annecy when you're headed to more mountains & lakes?
In any event, the Chamonix/Annecy area isn't at all on the way.
Depending on where you're coming from in Germany, the Engadine, the Tirol, perhaps the Alsace or the Appenzellerland would be on your route... the Berner Oberland would be a greater detour but still far less than the places you mentioned. Also, there's lots to see in Germany.
As a general rule, Ibis hotels are often a good deal in the 2-3 star category and almost always have parking. They are generally modern and bland though.
Provide a little more detail and I might be able to provide you with better advice.

We will be flying into Hahn. Then on to Bacharach. We have an extra week before checking into the hotel in the Dolomites. We have seen most of Germany. Also Appenzell. Alsace and Bernase Oberland. Just wanted something a little different. We have plenty of time.
