lodging in Budapest

Rick Steves recommended staying in Pest instead of Buda. Any lodging suggestings in Pest? We are fine with either a hotel or B & B. I know that your next question is what is my criteria and price range. We don't need fancy but do of course want clean and a location that is both safe and central. As for price, that is always difficult depending on your location as I don't know yet what is a fair price for Pest; so let's say $90. to $140.ish.

We liked this place. The hosts are fluent in English.

We also liked the Bellevue-it is located on the Buda side near St Mathias Church. The owners used to live in Montreal and speak English. Would stay there again. There were several charming neighborhood restaurants nearby.

Rick is kinda counting the angels on the pin head.

I'd stay near the Opera and close to the underground that goes out to the square (or roundabout) of heroes. Why, well there are loads of good restaurants around so when you cannot bother to schlep off to the very best you can get a good meal.

The opera is at 47.502214,19.058443

I'd then use your favorite booking system, I use booking.com and find the best 4 star with the biggest discount we stayed at the K+K opera two years ago and paid peanuts (sub $140). It was great and they even sent up a half bottle of champers for Mrs Bilbo's birthday (sticks in the mind)

Best easting area is at the parallel pedestrian area that runs NW-SE from 47.504548,19.06235. Others restaurants around are good

I agree with RS about Pest - better transport, more things to do, and you get to look at Buda. But for lodging, how about an apartment? I loved the one I stayed in in November.
