Lodging ideas for Paris Latin Quarter in Sept??

My wife and I are doing a quick, no frills trip to Paris during the week of Sept 20. We've stayed at Hotel du Pantheon in the Latin Quarter before and loved it, but the price is a bit high this year for a no frills trip, around $300/night. Any suggestions for a good quality place in the Quarter or even in the 6th Arrondissement/St. Germain sector that is reasonably priced? Thanks.

Try www.eurocheapo.com to get some ideas for cheaper places...you can then cross check it here or trip advisor.

Some other ideas:

Hotel Bonaparte (€135 for double including breakfast)
Hotel St Jacques (€125 last year for a double no breakfast)
Hotel Les Grandes Ecoles - around the same I think

We stayed at the Hotel Parc Saint Severin just a couple weeks ago. Located smack dab in the middle of the Latin Quarter, it was super convenient to everywhere (even the Cluny Metro, only a 30-second walk away, with its direct RER-B line to CDG). We stayed in a Classic Room (low end of their price range), and had a marvelous view onto the pedestrian street with the Saint Severin Church right outside our window! Wow, what a view! Very quiet at night, too.

can be booked here as well (we did):

Happy travels!

Oh, one more thing, if you want internet access.

The booking.com sites indicates that a computer is available at the cost of 5 Euros/hour.

Not so.

There is indeed a computer in their living area, but there is no fee to use it.

We stayed in VIP studio #100 on rue St. Jacques in March ($140/night because we were there less than 5, otherwise think it's $115). Quieter than expected and perfect location to walk everywhere. But, basic.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel St Michel in July... thought it was great. It's between the Pantheon and Boul St Michel. Rate was 160 Euros a night.

I stayed at this place one night last year and liked it a lot -- it is very convenient, just being off bd St Michel in the 6th, and doubles are only around 155 euro, it's a nice 3*, and has large rooms for a Paris hotel (at least, mine certainly was):

September is a busy month. I'd be interested in hearing back on how hard it was to get a hotel.

I thought about that, also, but the Trianon has an online reservation system that would allow booking five nights beg. Sept 20th, so I thought it was a good possibility.

As a basic place to stay, I used the Timhotel Jardin des Plantes. In the 5th, one long block from Seine, lots of restos nearby, Arene de Lutece couple of blocks away, Jardin des Plantes across street, Rue Mouffetard easy walk...

A couple years ago I stayed at Hotel Monge. It is now Hotel Acte V. The location was very convenient, close to the Cardinal Lemoine metro stop. I just checked their rates and they have some internet specials that look good.

Nearby but not Latin Quarter is another hotel that I like - Grand Hotel des Balcons. It is near the Odeon metro stop and Luxembourg RER stop. Again, great location.

Have fun!

You are all really nice and helpful, thanks for the quick replys. A few of these sound promising. So far, I haven't hit any problems with Sept. availability. Now, time for some hotel web surfing and review checking. Thanks again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche. It's on Rue St. Jacques about a five minute walk across the bridge to Notre Dame.

I stayed at the Hotel Des Grandes Ecoles earlier this summer. I would recommend it ..... BUT it usually requires booking exactly within their posted schedule to get in. So, as Barnum says "IF it's not too late"

Hotel Familia (and sister property the Minerve next door) are good comfortable budget choices in the Latin Quarter. Doubles start around 100e but go up with larger rooms and better views.

I have your same problem. We;ve stayed at the Danube for years but the prices are rising faster than my income. We've booked at the Familia mentioned above by cheryllj. Booked a superior room with breakfast and saved enough for dinners. The location looks great, the room pictures look very nice , and the price is certainly right

I stayed at the Hotel de la Sorbonne in May. It is located in the Latin Quarter. The price was great(around 82 euros per night, the hotel is very clean and the staff was lovely. The rooms all have imacs that serve as your tv, dvd player and computer. It was great to have free internet right in my room. I am hoping to return to Paris again soon and will definitely stay here again. Have a great trip!
