lodging, etc. in Carlisle

My husband & I will be in the Carlisle area in early July. A friend in playing to qualify for the British Open at Sollith and we are going to watch. Looking for recommendations on where to stay and any other info about the area.

Many thanks.

Kelly

Silloth is over on the Solway coast - not in Carlisle. It isn't far from Carlisle maybe 25 miles. Instead, I'd probably stay on the coast or in the Lake District

someplace like this one maybe http://www.lakesfarmholidays.co.uk/byresteads.htm

As for info - this is the Lake District - probably the single most popular British holiday area. Amazing scenery, Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth connections, etc. For July you should book a room ASAP - like yesterday.

Guy18: You'll just have to get over it - some UK place names are even more off-putting.

( And just wait for someone to ask you for a cigarette! )
