Lockers in Pisa train station

Hi:
I was wondering if there are any lockers available in Pisa train station. We will be travelling to Pisa from Siena on route to Milan (with our luggage)and dont want to lug around while visiting Pisa.

Thanks in advance.

No lockers - in theory a left luggage depot manually manned but when i was there recently it showed no signs of being manned - i wouldn't count on it unless someone says there definitely is one --- one that's dependably open that is.

If it's not available at Pisa Centrale train station you might want to leave it at the airport. The airport is only a 5 minute train ride from Centrale. If you are taking the train from Siena just book your ticket to the airport instead of Centrale. Here is the airport left luggage info.

I used the left luggage at Pisa Centrale without problem on two occasions, most recently in August 2004.

It is a bit of a walk from the center of the station. Do not remember the open/close hours, but I recall that they might take a siesta in the middle of the day.

Putti poses a question I was just getting ready to ask: In Northern Italian cities of some size -- say Modena, Parma, Padua -- do train stations normally have lockers or just the left luggage facility? We too thought we might hop off for a few hours in some cities on our route.

Well there are no lockers to my knowledge, even though many were installed several pre-9-11 years ago and thence were put out of operation. there is manual left luggage at many stations but no lockers - i will gladly stand corrected if anyone has recent info on this. I still wouldn't count on it if it were me - my 35 years of traveling in Italy to wit!

There were lockers in 2002 when I was there. However, due to post 9-11, these lockers were closed and there was no other place to leave luggage. We even tried to get the hotel across the street from the train station to keep our luggage for a short time. We were willing to pay for it, but no deal. We ended up carrying our bags to see the Tower.
