Lladro purchase
Planning a trip to Spain (Marbella) at the end of June. Question: are the Lladro figurines any less expensive to buy in Spain than in the US. If so, where can I get the best value - we will be in the South part of Spain. Thanks for any help.

My friend and I purchased Lladro in Torremolinos, also, in 2004.We'd been looking at them all the time we were in Spain and it appeared to us that the prices were pretty similar everywhere.
We had the 4 pieces shipped home. When one of hers arrived, some little piece that fit in a hand was missing. We had gotten the name of store, of owner, etc. and e-mail. I e-mailed him and he replied that he would send it immediately..and he did.
Can't think of the name of the street, but it is up above all the hotels and near the church. It has dozens of shops--most will be selling Lladro. Very hard to make a choice!!!Ciao! mhm

I did not see a huge difference in price really. I did see a large variety of choices on hand/display. That is what is so appealing I think, the amount in stock.
More of the Gris collection too. Also if you like the less expensive NAO they are more available.
If you are going to Mijas there is a shop there that sells beautiful gift s & decorative objects & art.
I bought a beautiful bronze (looking) sculpture there for E195. A Spanish dancer that was not kitschy. They had another called "el toque final" that was gorgeous, but they are not lladros naturally.

You will find that there are different a couple of different grades of Lladró figurines available in the stores in Spain. You will also soon discover that the market in Lladró is pretty well controlled, even if you go to the source. It's not much different than going to Zurich to buy a Rolex watch. You’ll end up paying as much, if not more, than you would at a Rolex store in Los Angeles or New York, only there will be a few more models to choose from, but no bargains.

if you have to have it shipped, any savings you might have found will be greatly dimished, especially if you have to pay duty on it when it arrives.
the second shop in valencia has the best prices, obviously, but the savings have diminished over the years.
and with the dollar the way it is..
as mentioned, the prices are very regular across the nation.

Mrs Muck and her mother are both Lladro collectors. MIL is obsessed with the things, she always says that the price in Spain is far cheaper than here in the UK.
I suspect that with the strength of the $ being what it is the same situation will apply with USA.
She came back from Spain 2 weeks ago having visited the factory and brought another load of these bloody things. Personally I prefer the look of Nao and they are half the price..

DH and I collect Lladro and we just returned from Spain Lladro-less. I found the prices to be more expensive than the US, particularly with the terrible value of the dollar. There were a couple of pieces that you could only get in Spain that had peaked my interest, but in the end I didn't love them that much. If you are looking for a particular piece, know your prices. Or get the price for a few pieces and use that as a comparison. I agree with the posters above, the prices seem to be pretty much controlled throughout the country, there was no price competition.
