Live from Hvar-

In Hvar. (2 kids, 2 grown ups on part of 18 day trip) Had a great time in Split for 2 nights one day, I think it gets a worse reputation than derserves, certainly in comparison to other parts of Croatia it is filled with graffiti and somewhat littered. But we were impressed by vibrant city life, filled with locals not just tourists. The Palace delightful (we asked for private guide from hotel and were pleased).

We are in Hvar now. GORGEOUS!!!!!
Eating lots of pizza prust (4.5 yr old and 2 yr old love it). Waiting for sister in lwa to arrive and help with babysitting so we can check out some of MartyNy great restaurants.

WE LEFT OUR GUIDEBOOOK somewhere in SPlit

More info on wines ? We are buying at grocerz and some are quite expensive so hate to experiment at high price but would love to try something special. We love bold reds, what we have tried is nice if verz sweet.

Favorite beach from water taxi (especiallz with kids) we might go onlz 1x and would love thoughts (we are not seeing manz english speaking tourists here at all)

We are doing great and can figure out but while I am at internet cafe thought I would provide update and ask a few questions.

Taking notes for trip report upon return.

Ciao,

Hi sfmaster, how nice to read your report while you are in Hvar. I was surprised about your comment about the wine there being so expensive as I thought the local wine produced there was quite reasonable. I say that only because that is what friends in Italy have told me. And I know they do not buy real expensive wine in Italy. I do think they said the wine is quite sweet if I remember correctly.

Anyway, enjoy your trip and thanks for sharing it with us!

I see you are not used to using a European keyboard: the y and z gave it away.

Besides that minute fact, thanks for thinking of us on your dream vacation. By the way, what's the weather like?

Hi sfmaster - Great to hear that you are having such a wonderful holiday! Two nice red wines that we enjoyed are Dingac (our favorite) and Postup.
Enjoy!!!!!

Another dingac fan reporting in. Enjoy your time in Hvar. We found it and Dubrovnik two of the most beautiful places we've traveled too. Also liked Split and Zagreb in spite of the bad rep each sometimes gets.

Spent yesterday at Parmizana beach. Wonderful!!!! Husband gimpy today with stings from sea urchin, took bus with girls to Stari Gard for pizza with a different view.

Tuni01 - Seems like life here is winding down from the major push of tourists. We are staying a few streets above Palace hotel, very central and love being close to walk around. We have found most of the food good without a huge difference between places so go explore and enjoy. We had a good meal at Lucculus last night... a little more italian flavoring than some other places which we enjoyed a lot.

We want to take another beach excursion tomorrow and will see what might be good. Maybe Parmizana again (50kn about 25 minutes there then hike over to beaches.)

Kids are starting to really miss playmates if there is anyone out there heading to Dubrovnik with kids (we leave on Friday for 6 days there).

SF - just got back from Brac and Hvar. Be sure to go to the Golden Shell - on the first alley to left of the Cathedral when facing it, I think - look for the signs. Great food - and Ivo is quite personable. Enjoy Dubrovnik.
