All is well - sort of. flights totally uneventful.

At LHR we had literally ONE person ahead of us at border control. I normally don't check bags, but since B's needed to be checked, I checked mine too. And our bags came around the carousel almost before we got out of the ladies room.

Then we walked over to T1 to hopefully meet the others. The driver was already there . . . And about 5 mins later out walks . . . ONE of the T1 ladies. The other one decided not to come. Her husband had a minor health scare a few days ago - the doctor said things are fine but Donna just thought it would be best to stay home. Thing is - she decided this on Friday, and didn't tell Barb til they were about to leave for Sunday afternoon Ohare.

glad that your arrival was comparatively trouble free.

does the lack of one of your number crete any problems? is the one who stayed at home the lady who had never used an ATM or the other one?

Doesn't complicate things much. A few of the dinner/theatre bookings need to be changed to 3 . . . Could someone use a single ticket to Blithe Spirit for wed evening? Cheap - like free.

One B&B gave us a discount because we needed the whole place. We no longer need the whole place. But I think we'll leave we'll enough alone.

Yes, she was the one w/ no ATM experience. (She did manage to get a card but still bought a couple thousand £££ and now needs to sell it back . . . At another loss.

I can certainly understand her canceling, but I don't understand why she didn't let her fellow traveler and you know sooner. All well, may be things will run more smoothly now.

If your friend was so stressed out she had to cancel, she would've been a royal pain on the trip. You're probably better off without her!

I'm sure you'll be able to return the ticket for Blithe Spirit. It's very popular

annhig,

FWIW, my mother still uses her 1965 Maytag clothes dryer. She got it (as well as a washing machine, which gave up the ghost a few years ago) when my brother was a newborn and both he and I were in cloth diapers.

I may not post too much more on this thread - don't want it to become a defacto TR

So far things are going pretty smoothly and we're having fun - keep your fingers crossed for me

Cranachin - they don't make them like that any more.

jj - no probs - but please don't stop checking in here from time to time just to let us know how things are doing. We'd like to be able to uncross our fingers from time to time!

Just one more

Last night they decided they REALLY wanted to do a vergers tour today and asked me to ring up Westminster abbey this AM to book it. Has to be the 10, 10:30 or 11:00 one because we have plans all afternoon. So I was going to as soon as I was up and about. Unfortunately . . . One got up a 10:00 and the other at 10:15 . . . And we'll be lucky to get out of here by noon . . . And the abbey is closed all day thurs and Friday . . . And . . . Well never mind.

You are either a saint or getting big bucks to conduct a private tour.

I hope it is the latter.

When a saint finally cracks, it isn't pretty. I would suggest taking them to Hampstead Heath and then quietly slipping away.
