Levanto or Sestri Levante?

Will be on the Italian Riviera in May. We already have accommodations in Camogli, Rapallo and Viareggio. We have a few days to spend between Rapallo and Viareggio and have already explored the Cinque Terre. Can anyone help us decide on an interesting location? We don't need wild nightlife or exhausting hikes in the hills. More interested in kicking back, people watching, and exploring the "back streets" in smaller towns. Should we pick Levanto, Sestri Levante, Lerici, or another location?

We are also planning a trip. Someone told us to stay at Sestri Levante. Hopes this helps!

I love that area of Italy. We stayed in Camogli and really loved it. We took a boat to San Fruttuoso for an afternoon. It is a beautiful little fishing hamlet with a nice abbey. Of course Portofino and Santa Margherita (we stayed there a few days) are nearby and are both worth visiting. Have a wonderful trip!

D&S, The choice is easy. I have done all of the villages and the best of the
lot is Portovenere--my favorite fishing village on the Ligurian coast. You will
love it. Lerici is right across the
Gulf and is also nice, but this place is special. There are several good hotels depending on price. Holler if you want more detail.
There are no easy answers when trying to decide where to stay in Italy! We stayed in Sestri Levante last summer and found it to be a quiet, pretty, unpretentious beach resort. The beach was not appealing (wall to wall cabanas, murky water) but our hotel had a water view and splendid swimming pool. The food was excellent - fish, of course - I would return there in a minute!
Carol L
