Leixlip - Hotels and Getting to Dublin?

Hi All,

Will be in Leixlip on business, have a choice of hotels, was wondering if anyone could recommend any one hotel in particular?

Also, what is the easiest way to get into Dublin by public transporation? How long does it take?

Thanks!

Donna

Can't comment on hotels.

Leixlip is within the dublin commuter area, and there are buses every few minutes. Go to http://www.dublinbus.ie/home/ and search on "Leixlip". Journey times should be under an hour each way, but Dublin is choked with traffic, so don't count on it, especially at rush hour, which extends from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

A trivial note: Leixlip is one of very few places in Ireland with a Norse name, thanks to the Vikings. It means "salmon leap".

If work is paying, with a decent budget - try the K club - which is a few minutes away be taxi.

The train is easier than the bus to get to Dublin city center. There are 2 stations in leixlip, leixlip confey and leixlip louisa bridge. The train goes to the 2 main city center stations Connolly and Pearse St.(amongst others) Check out departure times on http://www.irishrail.ie/home/. The journey takes about 40mins.

The K club is not a quick taxi ride away and very pric3ey. You may as well spend the money on a city centre hotel. there are a few hotel in leixlip and most are fine. Are you over with Intel or HP? They should organise or reccommend places if that is the case. Its a long bus ride to Dublin and home during Rush hour.

Leixlip is a charming little town that I often stop at for a meal after surviving the traffic from the ferry in Dublin. It is just far enough out that you are in the countryside. Before the M4 was built the N4 wound its way into the town & returning back to the ferry it was your last chance to experience the rustic charm of Ireland. It now has a large industrial estate but the M4 takes all the traffic and has restored the peace & quiet the town deserves. A lovely place to be staying.

Thanks all for your responses and information.

I am am doing training for the company I am going there for, thus am responsible for my own travel arrangements.

I am not staying in Dublin so to try to keep costs down for the client, so K club is out.

I know which hotels are in Leixlip, they all look just fine, just wondering if anyone could tip the balance in favor of any of them?

Thanks!
