Left luggage - Paris St Lazare

I'm traveling to Le Havre on business, but could knock off a few hours in Paris on a Sunday before catching a train to Le Havre out of Gare St Lazare. I'll have a suitcase and a briefcase with a laptop - are the left luggage facilities secure enough to leave these items? I'm not so concerned about the clothing, but my company may not like me losing the laptop. I had a colleague get one stolen in Montreal earlier this year, and what a headache it was for him.

I was hoping to run into the city to Musee Rodin and Napoleon's Tomb at Invalides - I figure I'll have a good 3-4 hours to explore.

Hi bm,

I suggest that you pack your laptop with your clothing - less likely to be "lost".

Carry the laptop/briefcase with you. It's for only 3-4 hours - don't take a chance.

Like Ira said, stow the laptop in the bigger suitcase and lock it. While the luggage facilities are generally secure, the station itself isn't all that secure.

It's a couple of years since I tried to leave luggage at St-Lazare, but it didn't have left luggage then. A few Paris stations, including Nord, Lyon and Montparnasse did have left luggage which consisted of lockers accessed via a manual security check with a scanner. Whichever sort of left luggage is available, the laptop should be hidden in your case, but left luggage offices anywhere are pretty secure.
