Well then...I will recommend staying Ile St Louis as a place close to everything (in the clubs/mightlife sense), but not in the middle of everything...but excellent dtarting point for seeing the sites. Lutece, Deux-Iles are nice places.

I also liked Hotel Le Notre Dame, where you can get a room with a view over the Seine and Notre Dame. Hotel De Notre Dame is a block from the Seine, minutes from Notre Dame, on a narrow one-way street and would be another to look at.

Best wishes
Mike

Hi since thanksgiving is probably not such a big travel time for Paris, you want to be sure you are in an area where there are lots of Parisians out in the evening. You will be happy with the Latin Quarter and any area right at the line of the 5th/6th neighborhoods. We were at the Hotel Left Bank--not sure if it is in the 5th or the 6th-- in March and there was *plenty* of street activity at night.

What bridge?!? I want to kiss under the bridge!!! How romantic!

Well...i'm totally hooked into looking for a great place around 5th or 6th Quartier.

I know Thanksgiving isn't the most ideal time to go, but do you think it'll be too cold to just walk around in November?

geener,

See this link for info on the kissing bridge (and some other kissing spots):

http://thinkparis.com/guides/tips/ki...Category_ID=60

Supposedly if you make a wish under Pont-Marie, aka as the ?bridge of lovers,? it will be granted, just don't tell your partner what you wished for.

We've been to Paris four times at Thanksgiving and there will be lots of tourists, mostly Americans. Even although it will be cold (and probably rainy at times), many cafes have heaters so you can still stop for a glass of wine or hot chocolate and watch Paris go by.

Be sure to bundle up and take a boat ride w/some champagne:

Good luck to both of you!

Yes that is right about the heaters in the outdoor cafes. The other place I have seen them is in LA and they are great for extending the outdoor seating season!! I took a long cashmere (very warm) scarf--for double wrapping around my neck--and a merino wool cape that I could put on over my coat when necessary or not if not needed. Even when Paris is cold and raw, if you are dressed warmly you can stroll for hours and it is wonderful!! And everyone knows that kissing is a great way to warm up!!

I have the same question as Geener. I'm going to Paris for the first time in September, but I'll be alone. I don't want someplace that is too busy, but that I can easily walk around to get to things. I'm currently reserved up on the far right hand side of Montmartre (not in Pigalle or to the left of it). I feel in love with the photos of the windy streets and neighborhoods. But some people have told me Montmartre is really a day trip and I'll be isolated there. Any suggestions? Also any information on the St. Martin Canal area? Thank you.

Thanks hopscotch, I did. I found a really nice (and surprisingly reasonable!) place in the Latin Quarter on Rue des Echoles called Hotel Saint Jacques. I'm feeling much better about the change/decision.

I posted my question individually and was turned onto a wonderful website which allows you to type in an address and then "expore" the neighborhood around it all in photos... it's like being there an walking down the street! The wev address is http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/pj.cgi and the link is the one in the upper right hand corner (website is all in French).

Geener, this may be a great resourse for you and your boyfriend too.

The Hotel Saint Jacques has been mentioned on this forum a number of times. Try the search box. IIRC it has been favored by most. I haven't stayed there but lived nearby, around the corner from the Place Maubert. Good area.

Mvor: I checked out the kissing website and I'm totally psyched to check out some great kissing locations! The BF will be very impressed my knowledge! hehe.

EarthlinkAmy: So glad my blogg is helping others! I'll definitely check out the webpage you mentioned. I'm also checking out the Hotel San Jacques. But since your heading over there before me, please let me know how your stay was.

I was in Paris last Thanksgiving week. There were a few days there it was VERY warm...like take my raincoat off coz I was wearing a sweater kind of warm... 1 day it rained and that was OK by me...Paris is lovely in the rain...and a couple of days where I was glad I had the liner to the raincoat and my good cashmere coat...
You'll both be fine!!!
