Lecce-narrowed to 4 B&Bs-quick opinion/recent experience
Hello Lecce experts: I’m looking at staying at one of these 4 B&Bs in Lecce (historical center). They all look beautiful, spotless, well located, and are very well reviewed on various sites, including this one. I love a quiet, beautiful, clean, well located B&B; interesting design is a plus; a view from the B&B (if not the room) is also a plus--if not, a location that has some charm/is near some beautiful site. I will be there late next week or— last minute trip, long story.—so a nice outdoor seating area is not important, given the weather. I very much appreciate warm, helpful, accessible owners/managers that can offer advice. A tea kettle in the room and a nice on-site breakfast are also plusses. I’m a woman traveling alone so a feeling of safety is important to me. The four places I’ve narrowed down to seem to fit the bill in most, if not all, ways.
Wondering if anyone has a quick reaction/recent experience to these four B&Bs (three of them definitely have availability for my dates). (1) Palazzo Persone (reviewed favorably in a 2011 TR by Franco—looks stylish and interesting in re design); (2) Attico Baroco (among other plusses, the owner and her family get rave reviews from so many here, most recently, Prolog—I’ve written to inquire about availability during my dates-the website is buggy right now, and I am getting mixed messages about availability); (3) Mantatelure Dimora Esclusiva (autodidact reviewed it favorably in 2015); (4) Dimora San Guiseppe (poor wifi mentioned in a 2014 TR by Dai—I have written to inquire about any recent wifi upgrades as it’s important to me that wifi works well—I don’t see mentions of wifi problems in recent TA or booking.com reviews). Thanks in advance for any quick experiences or reactions/opinions.

Thanks very much Bilboburgler-that’s exactly the kind of reflection I was seeking. I learned this morning that Attico Baroco indeed has one room available during my dates. I’ve just written to get clarification on which one it is. The owner has responded with the great warmth that others have described here. So, I am strongly inclined to grab that room in the next few hours, though will dig a little more deeply into the reviews of Palazzo Persone while waiting for a reply from Attico Baroco. I did end up finding one more concern in a recent thread on TA about #4, Dimora San Guiseppe, and that suggests it might not be a good fit for me despite its beauty. Thanks again!

Was able to book a room—the one with the big terrace/panoramic balcony at Attico Baroco today. Feel very lucky to have gotten it. And the owner has been lucky. Working to lock in my lodging (B&Bs( now in Matera and Monopoli and reviewing TRs and threads now…It will be a long night on line…I know folks here can relate. That gives me a few days to get set on guides/transfer-drivers (am very pleased to have reserved with one guide already-the famous Nadia in Matera who gets so much love here)

Last year we stayed for 3 nights at Endea Suitet Rooms in Matera. We booked it directly with the owner who was very responsive and helpful during our stay. Highly recommend it. We ended up staying in a beautiful (to say the least) B&B in Locorotondo for 4 nights. Even though were planning to stay in Monpli at first. Pietra Pesara +39 3204161516. We also booked it directly. You need to have a car though. Hope it helps.
