Leaving SAT - 4/12 - HELP!

I am leaving for London (Gatwick) this afternoon and just found out I need to meet friends in Brussels. Never traveled out of the US and am a student. I need to find a reasonably priced train to take me from London (hopefully Gatwick) to Brussels.

I would really appreciate any help at all!

Are you taking the Gatwick Express into Victoria Station? There is no better place to figure it out. You can get expert help; obviously with no language barrier and access to whatever the best deal is going to be. (Cheapest method: Tell your friends in Brussels that they need to meet YOU in London. LOL!) Good luck!

Thanks for your help! Where is the Gatwick Express? In the airport I'm hoping. And do you know how much it will cost to get to Victoria Station? Plus, with me being 20, is there any other breaks I can get?

Wish my friends would come get me too, but they say the experience is a great way to break me into Europe!

If you are a University Student, BRING your student ID with photo with you --
THere are all sorts of deals available to University Students- ie. free or heavily discounted museum entry= etc-

Have no idea about the train, but I assume they are also discounted to students

The Gatwick Express train goes from Gatwick Airport into the city of London, several miles north. I strongly recommend that you get advice before leaving the airport, as there might be a better alternative than going up into the city first. There are even cheap European international flights that might work out for you, on small airlines like Ryanair. Do take your student ID, as others have advised.

Here is the info on getting from Gatwick to London and then you will need to get from LONDON Liverpool to Stansted Airport:

Gatwick Express from Victoria Station
Cost: single 11 Return 21
Journey Time: 30 minutes to Gatwick Airport South Terminal
Phone Number: +44 (0) 8705 301530

Heathrow Express From Paddington Station
Cost: single 13 Return 25 (2 extra if purchased on train)
Journey Time: (Heathrow Airport terminals 1-2-3) 15 minutes
: (Heathrow Airport terminal 4) 23 minutes
Phone Number: +44 (0) 0845 6001515

Liverpool Street Station to Stansted Airport - Stansted express train service - now replaced by a coach service every Sunday till 2004!!!!

Stansted Express From Liverpool Street Station
Cost: single 13 Return 23
Journey Time: 45 minutes to Stansted Airport
Phone Number: +44 (0) 8705 301530

Seems if you want to do the RYANAIR flight- you will have to take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station and then get from Victoria station to Stansted airport to make the RyanAir flight--and it takes at least 30 min for each train plus the time to GET to each train.....

Sounds like a lot of trouble to save the cash, but if you are super intent on a cheap way to get to Brussels, this MAY work....

If it were me, I would do the Eurostar as it seems way easier, esp.after an overnite flight from the US....

Janelle-- I forgot to add--

If you take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station, you THEN need to take a train to LIVERPOOL Station to catch the Stansted Express to Stansted Airport-

Seems wayyyyyyyy too convoluted to me--

So take the Gatwick Express to London and then the Eurostart to Brussels....
