The temperature never gets that cold in Iceland, but the wind does blow. You need a jacket that stops the wind! I was there in March and the wind was so cold I could hardly breath, but I'm from Florida. Bring a swimsuit for the pools. Hat, gloves, layers of clothes.

Yes to winter jacket. There is a light frost some mornings at this time of year, but temperatures rise during the day to about 50 Fahrenheit.

Yes - it's cold at the moment. There was ice on my car leaving for work this morning! Bring the winter jacket. Better to have it than want it.

If it is not too late. Wear the jacket, do not pack it. Saves a bunch of space. When you get to Ireland, buy a nice wool scarf for your head/neck. Gives you something to bring back.

Doubt if you'll be seeing many thermal pools in Ireland. You probably won't need a heavy winter coat. But you will need something waterproof and roomy enough that you can wear layers under. Also gloves and a hat or scarf. But you can buy that sort of thing after you are in Ireland.
