learning Italian in Italy

Hi Folks: I know this is above and beyond the call of duty here, but I thought this might be a good place to find out where the best italian language schools are in Italy? I just got back from Italy and thanks to many of the readers on this site had a wonderful 3 week adventure on my own! I would love to go back and learn the language. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

In Rome there is the ISTITUTO DANTE ALIGHIERI which is a school where they teach italian to foreigners. It is right behind the Vatican (Via Aurelia 137). Other than teaching grammar, they are also great in teaching italian culture, gastronomy, art, history etc.. Lots of seminars and on the whole a good school for those who want to learn italian while in Rome. This is their site, for more info.

I attended the Universita per stranieri in Siena in 1994. I liked it so much (the city) that I am still here Florence is nice but I notice that it is a very English friendly town which will inhibit your learning Italian. The link for the school here is http://www.unistrasi.it/

I went to a summer session in Orbetello offered by Koine. They have several different locations. The average age of my group was around 30 and the teachers weren't much older. It was terrific but if you are older and want age peers you should ask questions about that. I've also heard about a good course in Pienza (in the old convent where The English Patient was filmed?).

I've never done this, but I've heard some favorable comments from people who have studies Italian in Perugia or in Bologna. One of the regular posters here (maybe not in the summer, though) is a student living in Bologna. (I think he posts as RAR.)
