Le Grand Intercontinental Paris

Any one stay here recently?? Looks like we could get the Roissy bus from CDG (I have a phobia about taxis to/from CDG since a really scary experience!). Can get a club level room for about $57E more than a superior room at the Rive de Notre-Dame.

Thanks for any info!

You can pay 32 dollars difference for club floor staying down at the Inercontinental in the 1st area. Which is a more central location. Le Grand is great for shopping but not in the middle of things.

Judy, I haven't stayed there myself, but there have been some offers that have caught some attention of late that you would want to know about.

First, there was two page add in the latest edition of Conde Naste Traveller magazine. Go to the InterContinental Hotels website and make a booking for stays between now and December 31. Quote code "CNT" in your booking and receive a complimentary upgrade to the Club Floor.

The other is perhaps even better; a two for one offer that you can view at:

http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ic/...p/depart2.html

If you go to www.flyertalk.com and then drill in to the InterContinental hotels discussion thread and then to the specific thread: "Exceptional offer at IC LeGrand Paris", you can pick up some recent insight from people who have been there.

Thanks for the information. I bit the bullet and we are staying at the Le Grand. Flyboy, the lowest rate the Le Grand Intercontinental was the club level room for $277E, predpaid and nonrefundable. I did put the Offer DEPART in the comment box and will check about that at check-in. I love the left bank but this is such a good offer and I know the hotel physically will be more comfortable..especially for such a short stay. We've stayed at the Regina in the 1st, Left Bank Hotel and Hotel Dauphine in the 6th, as well as the Hilton (I think) at Orly. So this will be a whole new area for us! When I've stayed in the left bank, I've been with friends. My husband prefers more deluxe hotels.

jlsayre, I've read the Intercontinental in the 1st is more of a business hotel and the rooms are smaller. The Le Grand has been recently redone. We stayed at the Regina in the 1st the first time we were in Paris and it was convenient to things. But we can do metro or buses from the Le Grand. Once while staying at the Hotel Left Bank with a friend we WALKED from there to the Ritz!

Thanks again, you two!

Judy

FLYBOY!

Tried to find your email address..thought they used to appear by clicking on name but it just shows all your posts when I do that.

I am forever indebted to you! Checked this morning and Le Grand has charged two nights on our credit card. Sure can't beat four nights, junior suite, club level at $707.41USD! You are great!

Flyboy, could you give me more info on the "CNT" promotion? I have a reservation with the IC Paris and just called to get the upgrade, but they did not have the promotion listed...

misslee,

I found the ad Flyboy was talking about in the October issue of Conde Nast Traveler. It says:

"Only for Conde Nast Traveler readers. Exlusive access to the Club Lounge. This uniquely luxurious experience can be booked directly on: 1-866-565-4214 or through www.legrand.intercontinental.com/Condenast. Reservations available on request. Offer valid until 31 December 2004. Booking code:CNT"

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Judy. Won't work for me as I'm in the IC-Paris. Just trying to see if there was an upgrade...it was worth a try.

Judy - when are you going? If its before new year's (that's when I'll be there), will you post your experience. Would love to know how it goes.

misslee,

We arrive Paris on December 10th, leave on the 14th (quick trip). How 'bout you? From what I've read the Le Grand has recently been redone and is nicer than the IC-Paris. It's close to the metro and the Rossiy (sp) bus from CDG stops across the street. We havestayed at the Regina in the 1st before, really prefer the 6th but who can pass up these prices?

Judy, I'll be there from 12/27 to 1/1. I love the idea that that Roissybus stops right across the street. Let me know how it goes for you...

Misslee,

I'll be sure to let you know how it was! I love the bus too...we had a really, really scary taxi ride once going to CDG and it gives me anxiety attacks to think of it happening again! Though I must say, I've had fine taxis since. The bus will save us some $$!

My husband and I will be staying at Le Grand Nov. 20-26th, so I will let everyone know how it is. We used the DEPART code as well, so we get 6 nights for the price of 3. We were originally booked at a 3-star, which would have cost $200-300 more for the 6 nights. My husband saw the deal last month on the Flyertalk forum, and it seemed like a no-brainer to switch. Two more weeks til Brussels and Paris, I can't wait!

misslee,

Got back from Paris last night. The Le Grand was wonderful...two room junior suite and great service. Once you arrive, go directly to the club on the 5th floor. They will check you in there. We arrived around 10am and got our rooms right away. Breakfast is good and there is coffee, tea, etc and snack items available all day. Cocktail hour is from 6pm to 8pm (I think). I had champagne every night. On the second floor of the club there is a wide screen t.v. and a computer that is free to use. The keyboard is french so a bit tricky. Roissy bus stops about a block away. Very convenient. Opera metro is around the block. Let me know if I left anything out or if you have more questions.

Thanks for the update and glad it was wonderful. i will take your advice on the 5th floor check in. one question - did the rooms have u.s. power plugs (a radisson in london did)? am taking my cell phone and wondering if i need to buy a converter for my charger. only 11 days to go for me!

I don't think there were U.S. type plugs in the rooms. You might want to email them and ask. Also, if you take cabs, the drivers know it as the Grand Hotel. The Intercontinental seems to throw them!
