Temperature in Paris right now:
11°C = some 52°F.
This will not kill your feet (if you wear comfortable shoes!!) ;-)

PS: Public bus N° 63 takes you from the East to the West of the city, but must keep turning your head from the left to the right to see everything! Would that be too much as well?

Hi Tom,
I understand what you are saying, since cities like Paris or New York can be unbearable in the summer. I've only been to Paris once, and the Metro was awesome. It couldn't be any easier to use, and there seems to be a stop every 50 meters. Only issue is rush hour, when the rumours of the French not using deodarant began to ring true (but the NY subway is similar.) There are also tour busses if you're into that sort of thing. Taxis were very hit and miss for us, mostly miss in the early evening (rush hour.) There are the batobusses that run up and down the river, stopping near major sights every hour. We used these to go to the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, and Notre Dame, but it also goes to the Eifel tower and other spots. Most of the major sights are spread out, but coming from Prague, we misjudged the size of the city and walked much further than necessary. We loved Paris, especially the museums. There were many things in Paris that we thought were over-hyped tourist traps, but we had to see them for ourselves. Hope this helps, and good luck!

OH, you really need the Paris Opentour bus, it sounds perfect -- it's an open-top bus (not so good in the rain, obviously) which stops at all the main tourist attractions and with one ticket you can hop on and off as you wish all day. There is info about this (pretty good) on the www.ratp.fr website -- in English section, go to L'Opentour icon at bottom of page at left. Aside from that, lots of good guidebooks have walking tours of specific areas from which you could choose 3 or so, I've seen them in Michelin Green, Frommers and Cadogan, probably others.

Don't let my moniker fool ya...I'm a lazy SOB too! That's why I love Paris; the Metro is extremely easy to navigate, and stops are everywhere. If you want to see Montmartre, take a taxi to the top of the hill and stroll down at your leisure. Yes, a boat ride is great too...especially at dusk. Final tip: stay close to the center of town. We stayed 4 nights on the Ile St. Louis, and almost everything was within walking distance.

Paris is for lazies! Sit at a sidewalk cafe on St. Germain with a big carafe of vin rouge du maison and watch the ladies go by. There are worse things you can do with your vacation.
