Lavender in Italy?

My wife has seen beautiful pictures of lavender fields in Provence and wants to experience it for herself. However, she also wants to go to Italy (my first choice) and I was wondering if lavender fields can be found in Italy similar to those in France.

Go to Google, click on "Images", enter Italy +lavender. There are dozens of photos of lavender fields in Italy, but you'll have to follow up from the photos to see where they are and when they are in bloom.

There is lots of lavender grown in Tuscany. I would guess late April or May but you need to follow Eloise's advice and check to be sure.
