I went to one across the river from the Old Town. It was in Rick Steves' book. He's a good source of practical information like that.

We did laundry in Salzburg, If I remember it is located by the train station in the "new"section of town. I do not recall if it was listed in Rick Steves, I would assume so since we used his book. I do rmember that we did the leave it and go which is the best option.

Yes, it is across the river from the Altstadt. As I recall, it was on Paris Lodron Strass, about 4 blocks up on the right hand side of the street as you walk away from the Rainer Strasse.

Which coins do I need to stock up on to use a washer/dryer? I've not used one since the change to the Euro.

This laundromat has a person working behind the counter. You can bring bills and she will exchange them for the correct change. If you get there past mid-morning you may have to wait a bit for a washer or dryer to open up. I arrived around 8-9 as I recall and was able to get a washer with minimal wait.
