I love Finn Comfort shoes. www.finncomfort.com. I have three pairs of the Soho tennis shoe that I bought over the last 2-3 years.

I have problematic feet and this brand works perfectly for me. I check www.shoebuy.com and can usually find them marked down there. Shoebuy runs some good deals. One just needs to check them regularly.

I also check www.shoeline.com and www.shoes.com for various brands. And there's always www.ruelala.com that runs brands like Mephisto, from time to time, and marked way down on their Sunday night Styleathon.

Happy Travels!

The reviews are at the bottom of the page and below the reviews one can click on an area to show all of the Finn Comfort styles and then the shoe and the price will pop up.

Thank you for all these suggestions, I just came back from my BFF house and we sat there with wine glass and ipads and searched for shoes. She has bunions and we are really wanting her to be comfortable with this trip, her first to Italy. She likes Mary Janes so are checking all those. I haven't been to Italy in the summer in so long that I don't remember what I wore....I am not a shorts person, actually not a skort person either...I prefer long skirt or strapless dresses with a shrug....I want to think like the salesman and say - Comfort..Every trip I take to Europe no matter what time of year, I make myself crazy with what to take....My friend tonight says, ok do we take a 28" or 30" suitcase...she is as hopeless as I am....we should all get together on Fodors and do a what to pack list with pictures. We could run into one another on the streets and say "great outfit" and shoes....

rtys, you've probably seen this parallel conversation going on about women's attire for Italy:
http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...e-visitors.cfm

Good luck with the packing list! And with remembering the Comfort mantra. I'll add to it. The world is so global these days that there aren't a lot of differences between one urban locale's style and another (although of course there are always exceptions). So go with confidence and you'll be set for anything!

We could run into one another on the streets and say "great outfit" and shoes....

I love this! Too bad I won't be in Europe this year...

Thanks all for the ballet type shoe suggestions. I will follow up on these and see if they work for me.

Several years ago I wore my comfy black athletic shoe - very plain with no lights or glitter or phosphorescent logo - and took a pair of clip-on flowers (BIG flowers) that hid the front of the shoe. Looked great with a long skirt. Comfort and style. Sort of. Don't know if they still make clip-ons for shoes but I still have them - just in case.

thanks...sent link to my friends and family. And free shipping too. They have Stuart Weitzman, one of my favorite dress shoe brands.

I received my North Face base camp ballet flats from Zappos, in two days. Yay, Zappos.

These shoes are wonderful-- extremely light, with a soft foam 'eggcrate' type insole with an arch, and made to last as all North Face things are.. They are made of all recycled materials. Love them. Pure comfort. At $50, I might order them in black, too.

I highly recommend them.

"What is it about women and shoes - I just dont get it!"

Perhaps women are more 'evolved' from their cave-living days. I know a lot of men who would wear the same clothes and shoes every single day if they could.

I too was determined not to wear sneakers and looked at Keens, Tevas, Naot, Clarkes and decided on Merrillls. Check them out very comfy the first day and many styles. OK, truth be known, I threw my sneakers in my suitcase, just in case. And yes, I did wear themes Many other people on our recent trip to London and Paris. So, good luck and have a fabulous trip.
NO ONE was wearing skorts and few wore capris. Many wore jeans.

I wore a pair of Clarks sandals non-stop in Paris and southern France last summer-total comfort with enough style that I caught several Parisian women checking them out (hopefully in a positive way-LOL!) I bought another pair at the end of the season, and I'll wear them to Italy this summer. I bought them in bronze metallic, and it went with everything.
